Deep Thoughts from Black Thought

The Devil want me as is, but God, He want more.

I don't know how theologically correct this line is (since God, too, wants you as is), but I think it embodies an aspect of the Christian life worth noting. The Devil indeed wants you as is, but it's God who wants to better you, redeem you, reconcile you.

It can be a hard thing to come up against, I think -- to be with someone who has such high expectations for you. God wants to reconcile you to Him, which of course couldn't have been possible without the redeeming blood of Christ. The high cost is correlated to the high expectations. But we fall short, more often than not, just because... well, just because. Sometimes it feels like there's no rhyme or reason to it. Just our inherent human-ness and proclivity for not being good.

So, what do we do? Try and fail, and then try and fail again? The thing about becoming a new creation is that you're constantly becoming a new creation. The process of refinement will never be finished, and it's not an easy road to take. But isn't that what we want? To be with someone who sees our full potential... someone who wants to bring us closer to Him?
